About This Project

In this research, two electrical systems are compared by using two case studies: a domotized house (house 1) and a similar house, with a standard electrical installation (house 2). The objective was to find a percentage of energy savings, generated by the Domotic system, with a 50% of installation applied. A building is considered efficient when it uses only the exact amount of energy required to satisfy the user. 8% of energy outflow is caused by devices that stay plugged in or in “Stand-by” mode. The word Domotics is resultant from the words Domus (home) and Automation, meaning “the automatic house”, it refers to an intelligent house, capable of controlling most electrical machines in a synchronized and efficient way. This system allows the user to control the building, in the aspects related to energy and devices, through the use of technology. Water irrigation control, entertainment and safety are also components of the system. The automation levels are measured according to the percentage applied to the project. Its appropriate function depends on an optimal design and the application of latest technologies. Evolution has developed a variety of home automation options, adapted to the particular needs of the client, and offers more accessible prices. As a conclusion Domotics generate between 15% and 21% of energy savings. It can be installed in homes with a traditional electrical system, without the need of chopping walls; and it can be applied in new projects with the highest technology.
