A revolution in the concept of building climate control, which puts greenery at the forefront of building systems for cooling. This of a project that further developed the concept of activated vertical gardens as evaporative coolers. The garden is comparable in size and power to a traditional air-con unit: The preliminary results to date are promising and demonstrate that the compact active vertical garden prototype is capable of reducing the temperature of incoming air through evaporative cooling. With an average volumetric airflow rate of 0.018 m3/s, a temperature decrease of between 2.5℃ and 5.7℃ and an increase in RH from 19.4% to 40.2% was measured between the intake and outlet. A series of publications are/have been developed to disseminate the work.
