About This Project

The Eco-House Initiative is an international NGO, run from the University of Cambridge in the UK. The aim of this project was to develop an experimental design for permanent, low cost housing using various pre-fabricated panel designs. The Project was led by the collaborative clusters consiting of students, academic researchers, alumni, local community members and professional practitioners working together. Over the summer of 2013 a group of 11 students from the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering went to Ecuador, where amongst other things they worked on the construction of the permanent, prototype, low-cost house. Evolution was incorporated into the project management team for coordination and technical support. The Evolution CEO, Michael Maks Davis, then also acted as the site resident engineer for the design and construction of the housing panels.
