About This Project

Geoff Morgan, an engineering development consultant from Arup International Development, went out to work on an Engineers without Borders Project in Cusco Peru. The local partner organization was called the Sacred Valley Project, an NGO dedicated to improving access to education for young women from low-income families in remote, mountain communities of the Sacred Valley. The project in question was a boarding house for girls who lived great distances from schools and educational centers. When Geoff was working on the project and looking at ways to improve its sustainability, the incorporation of vertical gardens into the building was met with enthusiasm by the center members. To this extent Geoff brought Evolution into the project, in order to get advice on how to carry out the vertical garden construction. The garden has been a great success, with the members of the center now looking to extend it to other building walls.
